Atlanta fans who are psyched to seeing Kesha at the Tabernacle Atlanta on April 20 now have one more way to get a Kesha fix before the big show: Kesha’s new video, “Blow.” Once again, Kesha has outdone herself. It may be hard to believe, but this video features not only unicorns and a scantily clad Kesha, but also James Van Der Beek a.k.a. Dawson Leary of Dawson’s Creek.

What’s up with Kesha’s new video?

So, what on earth do unicorns, James Van Der Beek, and Kesha have in common with each other? Who knows — but it’s lots of fun to watch! When asked about the meaning of the video, James Van Der Beek said it’s impossible to come up with a logical explanation. This leads me to believe that an explanation doesn’t actually exist and that this is just one of those music videos designed to keep people guessing, which is clearly good for Kesha because the more people she can keep guessing, the better. Most stars like to keep their fans wondering about them. When the fans stop wondering, then it’s time to worry!

Oh, and if you happen to be concerned about the well-being and humane treatment of unicorns — don’t be. At the beginning of the “Blow” video, a disclaimer pops up on the screen stating that no mythological creatures were harmed during filming. Whew! Now we can all rest easy …

In all seriousness, the video was directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, and despite the oddity of it all, it’s actually really well made. People who don’t even like Kesha might appreciate it for the spectacle it is. It’s also nice to see James Van Der Beek pop up in things on TV and in the movies now and again. After Dawson’s Creek ended, we didn’t see nearly enough of him for a long time.
