Shen Yun Performing Arts Dancers
Seongho Cha is one of the two male principal dancers. Although the Shen Yun production is Chinese, Seongho was born in South Korea. His dance training began with ballet when he was very young. From there he moved to the United States and danced with various American ballet institutions, receiving a Bachelors in Dance from Point Park University. After a stint studying at New York University, he joined the Shen Yun company.
The other male principal dancer is Leon Chao, a young Chinese man who was first inspired by body movement when he took up martial arts as a child. This soon led to dancing, and Leon later studied at the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts before becoming part of the company in 2007.
Cindy Liu also began her dance career at the very young age of seven in her home city of Beijing. Cindy has been performing with Shen Yun since 2006 and has been distinguished by wins in classical Chinese dance competitions over the years.
The last of the principal dancers in the Shen Yun troupe is Jennifer Su. She shares a similar story with the other dancers here – her dance practice began at a young age, six years old in her case. After moving to Toronto she carried on with her training and later attended the Fei Tian Academy of Arts, like Leon Chao. She has been a part of Shen Yun since 2007.
