[ad#300 x 250 L-side]Kesha, who is appearing live in Atlanta at The Tabernacle on April 20, failed to get what her fans believe is a much deserved Grammy nod.
So, what’s the deal?
The 53rd annual Grammy’s will air live on February 13 this year, and unfortunately for her fans, Kesha isn’t up for an award. Many people are confused by this because Kesha was certainly the “it” girl this year, having released such huge hits like “Tik Tok” and “Your Love is My Drug.” Her singles hit the charts and stayed there, and she was frequently compared to other big-deal divas, including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. So what happened here? Why wasn’t Kesha at least nominated?
Some people claim that her lack of a nomination might have a little to do with her “party girl” persona, but this isn’t really a solid reason because she was recognized by both the American Music Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010. MTV Europe even gave her the award for Best New Act. Billboard also gave her the award for Hot 100 Artist of the Year for 2010.
Many of Kesha’s fans are upset that she didn’t get the nomination, but if she continues on the path she is on, her success will only increase in 2011. Can the Grammy’s continue to ignore her in spite of her many fans and non-stop hits? Only time will tell the tale. I guess we’ll have to wait until the end of this year, when the nominations are announced for the next Grammy’s, to find out.
